Invisalign is
an alignment correction system of custom-made, nearly invisible, removable
aligners. If your teeth are too far apart, too crowded or shifted
since having worn braces, then you may have a reason to smile. No
metal braces needed! This proven method of straightening your teeth
requires no more treatment time than traditional braces. Invisalign
is comfortable and convenient, allowing easy access for eating, brushing
and flossing.
How does Invisalign work?
After your initial examination with your doctor, it is assessed if
Invisalign is right for you. Through the doctor’s expertise,
a plan is determined and an impression of your teeth is made and sent
to the Invisalign lab. Using the latest 3-D computer imaging technology,
Invisalign carefully translates your doctor’s instructions into
a series of precisely customized aligners. These aligners are worn
approximately 2 weeks, day and night, gradually straightening your
teeth (total treatment time will vary in each case).
What can you expect with the Invisalign plan?
The duration of this process from your first visit to completion will
vary according to severity of your case. However, total treatment
time averages 9 – 15 months. The aligners should be worn full-time,
except when eating, brushing or flossing your teeth (or other times
as directed by doctor). Generally, you will insert a new aligner every
2 weeks and return to the doctor’s office every 6 weeks to regularly
examine your progress. Similarly to traditional braces, the cost is
based on the course and duration of treatment. If your dental insurance
covers braces, it may cover the Invisalign system. You can simply
expect to attain the smile of your dreams.
